About Me

Early in my career I found myself surrounded by many talented peers who attended top-tier universities. As a ‘just get by’ State College student I had no expectation of achieving anything in the world of business.

One year into my white-collar experiment I almost quit to become a train conductor. Two years in I was called to the McCann Erickson Media Directors office and told that I was one hiccup from the door.

As a Myers-Briggs assessed introvert and a ‘Loner Rebel’ typology who ‘lacked intellectual flair’ I wouldn’t be hard to replace.

Facing a fight or flight moment, I bought Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People and read it twice over a weekend. Arriving at work on Monday something had changed. I began to look at myself and others differently and discovered my secret weapon.

In one weekend my appetite for honest self-discovery and my hunger to learn had gone from non-existent to 70 mph. Good things began to happen and I started to have fun.

It wasn’t that long before the blue-chippers started working for me. For over twenty years I held senior leadership roles in very large and mid-sized businesses and worked extensively on six continents.

In a world that clearly favors extroverts, for many years I felt defective and less than others. I am certain, though, that I far exceeded my early career expectations because of my reflective nature and not in spite of it.

Being cut from a different cloth became a career advantage for me and my ability to approach things uniquely was (eventually) embraced. Of course, it wasn’t sitting there waiting for me, I needed to take action.

At a leadership retreat in 2007 I discovered the source of my greatest professional satisfaction. Helping others achieve their potential, beyond what they previously imagined possible. It continues to be my passion today as does my quest for self-discovery and life-long learning.

Whatever path you choose, there is no magic bullet. But we only have one shot at this and the curtain is up.

In 2010 I received a Master’s Degree, with honors, in Executive Coaching and Professional Development from Middlesex University in London and have three ICF Professional Coaching certifications. I am approved and qualified to administer a range of personality assessment tools such as Myers-Briggs MBTI, FIRO B, Type and Emotional Intelligence, CPI 260 along with others.

“As a business professional of over 30 years, and one who enjoys mentoring others, I’m often asked who my mentors were and how they impacted my development and career. Tom is always the person I speak of. I met Tom as I started my career as an administrative assistant. He saw potential in me where others didn’t and helped me understand the broader business outside my lens. His advice and encouragement gave me confidence to stretch beyond my comfort zone. That confidence and belief in myself jump started a career of taking chances and aspiring for more. Tom has remained a trusted advisor to me, and I know his ongoing mentorship and support is a key driver of my success. I would not have the career I do, growing from an assistant to my role as a Senior Vice President in a large global company, without his inspiration and steadfast guidance.”

“I had the opportunity to go through an extensive coaching journey with Tom Rose. Tom has proven through his sincere interest, comprehensive process and relevant experience to be an invaluable resource in helping me to grow my business. I have worked extensively with Tom one-on-one, and he has provided exceptional support helping me to transition my business and gain new perspectives on how to best market myself and the business. As a result, I now have a clear path to success and an action plan that is working to bring my vision to life. Tom’s system of coaching and guidance is valuable to anyone seeking to achieve more meaningful goals in their business and their life. I look forward to continuing to work with Tom and continuing to grow my business. I highly recommend Tom as a business coach to help you take you and your business to new heights.”

Stephanie Frohock

VP/Marketing & Sales at The Flowery

“Tom was a gift to me at a time in my career where my goal was to achieve the next level. Accomplishing the next level was minuscule compared to the education and coaching he gave me on doing things the right way and not cutting corners.
His tried and true methods taught me how to build the framework and structure before building any plans or strategies. Do your research (ie: market/competitive analysis, survey’s) before writing brand identity, positioning, or any sort of plans. His coaching has been the foundation of anything I do in my professional career.
The competencies and confidence I’ve achieved through my work with Tom has significantly contributed to my successes. I do my best to mentor others as a pay it forward for what he gave to me.
His passion for teaching and methods are a guarantee you will see results working with him!”
